Fibermaq consolidates filament winding portfolio Notícias

If 2017 was not an unforgettable year for Fibermaq, Brazil’s leading company in composite molding equipment, at least the period served to consolidate its filament winding portfolio. “The recovery in demand last year helped to restore the losses reported in 2016, when our turnover fell more than 30%. In parallel, we managed to negotiate a filament winding machine, a sophisticated equipment with higher levels of automation and customization,” said Christian de Andrade, director of Fibermaq.

Among the main supplies of 2017, Andrade highlights the supply of a machine designed to produce conical composite poles of up to 12 m long, to Mossoró Premoldados. The pole segment is one of the few that has been immune to the Brazilian crisis. It is estimated that approximately 10% of all poles produced in the country are made of composites, and this share is expected to double over the next two to three years. Lightweight and immune to corrosion, these products are ideal for hard to reach areas or located on the coast.

For the tank market, Fibermaq’s director emphasizes the construction of a filament winding machine model that produces tanks up to 4 m in diameter and 6 m in lenght. “It is in operation at Delta Vinil’s plant.” As for tubes, one of Fibermaq’s most relevant cases are the machines supplied to the Stringal Hurner Group. Each machine produces bars of 6 m in length, and 50 to 700 mm in diameter.

Founded in 1978, in the city of São Paulo, Fibermaq is a pioneer in the manufacture of equipment for molding composites, epoxy and adhesives in general. During this period, more than 5,000 spray-up machines, gelcoat application, RTM injection and filament winding machines, among others, were sold by the company in Brazil and throughout Latin America.

In 2017, Fibermaq was elected for the sixth consecutive time the Top of Mind of the Composites Industry in the category “Equipment” – organized by the Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO), it is the industry’s main award.
